Andrew Marlin is an American songwriter, mandolinist, and record producer based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He is best known as the co-founder and primary songwriter of Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange), a critically acclaimed Americana duo he leads with Emily Frantz. Marlin has produced six studio albums with Watchhouse and is an in-demand producer for other artists, with production credits including Mipso, Kate Rhudy, Rachel Baiman, and Ismay. He has played mandolin as a session musician on recordings for Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers, Waxahatchee, and Phil Cook. His 2025 Watchhouse album 'Rituals' (co-produced with Ryan Gustafson) followed two 2024 solo instrumental albums — 'Phthalo Blue' and 'Wild Rose of Morning' — recorded at The Tractor Shed in Tennessee. He has headlined major venues including the Ryman Auditorium and Red Rocks Amphitheatre and performed on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. With 42,000 monthly Spotify listeners and an active touring and production schedule, Marlin is a cornerstone of the modern American roots music scene.
