She studied jazz in Iowa, performed prog-math rock in Minneapolis, traveled to India to study Hindustani vocal techniques, and then enrolled at Mills College in Oakland to explore electronic music composition — a journey that produced a uniquely layered sonic language combining jazz, choral, ambient, and Hindustani classical traditions.
