Alex Kehm is a 22-year-old queer and transgender artist from Rhode Island who defines the modern bedroom producer. From early SoundCloud releases in 2017 to their current self-produced projects, Kehm has maintained a strictly independent process—writing, recording, and producing their entire discography from home. At the core of Kehm's work is a poetic approach to songwriting that serves as both a sanctuary and a mirror; they describe their process as ripping out a piece of a journal and sharing it with the void, exploring trauma, grief, and queer identity with a raw old-soul perspective. After their first single Jean Jacket was featured on Clairo's NTS Radio Show, Kehm's reach expanded with the 2022 EP Intimacy, whose title track has surpassed 15 million streams and secured numerous TV and film sync placements through Epidemic Sound. In 2025 they released the self-produced EP cowboy's gonna do it, with lead single hypotheticals landing on Spotify's New Music Friday and catching Joe Jonas's attention. Influenced by Bon Iver and Joni Mitchell, their indie-folk-pop sound draws comparisons to Phoebe Bridgers and The Cranberries, with new singles continuing through 2026 including Walking Dead released June 2026.
