Aguava is the project of Brooklyn-based producer Allen Chen, blending Afro-Cuban jazz, bossa nova, disco, and 90s house into forward-thinking retro grooves. Born in Shanghai and raised on Chinese folk music plus classical piano and guitar, he started producing at UNC-Chapel Hill and chose music over dental school. His catalogue spans jazz-house and lo-fi house releases like the Cuando Sueño EP, Flying Fish (with trumpeter Paul Giess), Willy Nilly, Home Again, and the Boleta EP, plus remixes for artists including Adam Swim.
