Bio

Aera is the recording and DJ alias of Ralf Schmidt, a German electronic producer born and raised in Northern Germany who now splits his time between Berlin and Malaga, Spain. With over two decades behind the decks and in the studio, he is known for a distinctive melodic touch and intricate, deeply textured arrangements that bridge house, indie dance and melodic techno. He is the head of his own Applied Magic label and has released on tastemaker imprints including Innervisions, Permanent Vacation, Maeve and Hivern Discs. His catalogue spans more than fifty releases, from club-ready singles and EPs to remixes for peers across the melodic house scene. In 2022 he launched the 'Versions' mix concept for Innervisions, reworking his own productions into new arrangements, and he continues to tour internationally as an in-demand DJ. His 2026 output includes the 'Electricity EP', the single 'Litoral' and the 'Electricity Remix EP', confirming a consistently active release schedule.
